A 300 MW utility-scale project powered by Sofar has been commissioned in China’s Gansu Province. Located in the Tengger Desert, the plant is expected to generate 540 million kWh annually and restore 5,2 km² of grassland after being fully connected to the grid, saving 160 tons of SCE (Standard Coal Equivalent) per year.
According to the company, more than 1.300 255KTL-HV inverters (in Brazil, the 250KTL-HV model is available) were adopted in the project. With a maximum efficiency of 99,02%, IP66 protection and C5 anti-corrosion, the equipment offers robust durability in hostile desert environments.
Furthermore, they highlighted that the inclusion of Smart String Level Disconnect (SSLD) ensures efficient and safe operation by isolating faulty strings – minimizing any potential impact on overall system performance – as well as IR scanning can accurately locate such strings.
“The success we have achieved would not be possible without the of our partners. We are happy to collaborate with Sofar on a large-scale project. To our satisfaction, the company's inverters operate stably throughout the entire process, so we are confident of stable power supply and high yields in future operation,” said Xiaoyong He, chief project engineer of PowerChina, EPC of the enterprise.
Ethan Shi, head of Sofar China, believes the collaboration reflects the manufacturer's strong dedication to contributing to the shared goal of carbon neutrality. “With several ongoing projects in partnership with PowerChina across the country, we are able to leverage their expertise and resources to further expand our presence and make an impact,” he concluded.
