The Ouroeste Solar Complex, inaugurated in 2019, received an additional 33 MW of installed capacity with the expansion of the AGV VII Solar Park, in Ouroeste, in the interior of São Paulo. The total capacity of the complex is now 178,3 MW.

According to Alexandre Bezdiguian, coordinator of Solar Plant Operations at AES Brazil, in 2023, the Ouroeste Solar Complex generated 301.490,71 MWh.

According to the coordinator, this production avoided the emission of 11.610,28 tons of CO2, contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

AGV VII Solar Park was built in an area close to the Boa Hora and Água Vermelha solar parks. The construction work lasted eight months and generated more than 300 jobs for the region during the period, stimulating local commerce.

The delivery of the project should increase the transfer of ICMS (Tax on Circulation of Goods and Provision of Services) to the municipality of Ouroeste (SP), as well as ISSQN (Tax on Services of Any Nature) for the services.

“The project confirms the commitment to make more megawatts available to the Brazilian electricity grid, whose expansion has been led by solar energy, essential to guarantee energy efficiency in times of drought,” added the coordinator.

Social projects

AES Brasil promotes social and educational initiatives in the locations where it has hydroelectric, wind and solar assets. A recent example was the inauguration of the Sports and Leisure for All Project in Ouroeste in June of this year.

Organized by AES Brasil and executed by the Rotary Club of Ouroeste, the project, which is expected to benefit more than 80 children and teenagers, included the implementation of a place with a playground, games tables and sports equipment, in a space provided by the city government.

This space will contribute to swimming, volleyball, soccer and beach tennis classes, especially for young people in the Arabá community.

Another social action developed in the region was the Jornada Vivencial, for teachers in the public education system, with training on comprehensive and humanized education with practices and methodologies that teachers can apply in school practices.
