A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) released this Monday (13/1) the schedule for activating the tariff flags for 2025. In January, the green flag was maintained, indicating that there will be no additional charge on the energy tariff, due to the favorable generation conditions provided by recent rains.

The tariff flag for February will be announced on January 31, with expectations that it will remain green, reflecting continued favorable conditions.

Created in 2015, the tariff flag system signals to consumers the current conditions of electricity generation in Brazil. The yellow and red flags (at levels 1 and 2) represent tariff increases, triggered in periods of unfavorable generation.

These colors come into effect when there is a lack of rainfall or lower than expected inflows, which requires the activation of thermoelectric plants, whose operation has higher costs, making energy more expensive for consumers.

Check the expected calendar for the release of the flags in 2025.
