Amazon continues its quest to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2030. The technology company announced five new renewable projects in China, Australia and the United States.
When completed, totaling 615 MW of installed capacity, the projects will provide around 1,2 million MWh of additional energy to the company's service network and AWS (Amazon Web Services) data centers, which supply Amazon and millions of customers all around the world.
To date, Amazon has announced 31 utility-scale wind and solar renewable energy projects and 60 solar rooftops at fulfillment and sortation centers around the world.
Together, these projects, which total more than 2.900 MW of installed capacity, provide 7,6 million MWh of renewable energy annually, enough to power 680 homes in the US, for example.
The company's goal is to have, at least, 2024% renewable energy by 80, in addition to reaching a point of “net zero” carbon dioxide emissions by 2040.
