ANEEL authorizes operation of four photovoltaic plants in Bahia

The Brazilian Northeast has more and more businesses investing in the use of solar energy. The nine states, together, have 2,4 GW of installed power in photovoltaic GC (Centralized Generation), according to SIGA (Generation Information System) of the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) – data extracted on 25/08/21.

Last Tuesday (24), the ANEEL authorized the commercial operation of four photovoltaic solar power plants in the municipality of Oliveira dos Brejinhos (BA). The plants Terra do Sol XI, Sol do Sertão XIII, Sol do Sertão XXXV and Sol do Sertão XXXVI together have approximately 190,491 MW of installed capacity.

The Terra do Sol project is an initiative of the solar installation company Ecoluz, the investment became viable in 2015, after the amendment of Resolution 482 by ANEEL. The plant already has a unit in operation in Ibotirama (BA) and in Jaíba (MG).

The Sol do Sertão solar complexes were designed by the photovoltaic project company Essentia Energia. According to the company, 1.075.200 bifacial solar s from the manufacturer were used in the plants LONGi. The operation of the plants was brought forward by the agency; in the original schedule, the plants were scheduled to start operating in July 2022.
