Only in 2023, Brazil added 3 GW of installed power em solar energy by means of distributed micro and minigeneration systems, show data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

In less than five months, were 277,2 thousand photovoltaic systems put into operation by the modality in all Brazilian states – around six thousand units more than in comparison with the same period last year.

According to the Agency, between the days January 1st and May 22nd, 2022, installed solar power by distributed generation in the country (2,52 GW) was approximately 20% smaller than 3 GW added this year.

In 2023 alone, around 1,58 GW were computed from residential systems; 0,67 GW through commercial establishments; 0,51 GW per rural properties; 0,18 GW per industrial plants and another 0,06 GW per systems linked to power, service and public lighting.

Of the 3 GW installed this year, were 2,71 GW from microgeneration connections (power up to 75 kW), while the others 0,29 GW came from minigeneration systems (power between 75 kW and 3 MW).

Os Brazilian states with the highest volume of installed power in DG in the country this year were: São Paulo (0,51 GW), Minas Gerais (0,33), Rio Grande do Sul (0,27 GW), Paraná (0,25 GW) and Mato Grosso (0,17 GW).

Among the municipalities, the highlights of this beginning of the year are Fortaleza (CE), Brasília (DF), Cuiabá (MT), Teresina (PI) and São Paulo (SP), which totaled 34 MW; 33 MW, 32 MW and 28 MW and 24 MW in 2023.

Currently, according to the figures from ANEEL, Brazil has almost 21 GW of installed power in solar DG since the beginning of the expansion of the source in the country.
