Cemig SIM officially confirmed this week the expansion of its area of operation outside of Minas Gerais in the shared distributed generation segment with solar energy.
The measure allows consumers in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Goiás and the Federal District to also have access to the company's subscription solar energy service. The new measure validates the information published by Canal Solar on 10 in March.
The investigation indicated that the company had already begun the process of formalizing operations in these new regions, through strategic partnerships with local solar plants.
According to Government of Minas Gerais, through Cemig SIM, around 300 thousand customers are already served by the shared distributed generation model in the state of Minas Gerais. The expansion seeks to replicate this model in other regions of the country.
“We have the ambition to reach 1 GWp of installed capacity with this expansion”, said Mendonça”, he stated Iuri Mendonça, CEO of Cemig SIM.
According to him, the expansion of generation capacity will follow the same logic as the Free Energy Market commercialization. The idea is to expand the company's customer base to 1 million using the solar energy subscription model by 2030.
“We will take our first step outside of Minas Gerais in regions where there is greater brand awareness and relationship with the market,” highlighted the executive.

To advance its strategy, Cemig SIM carried out proof of concept (PoC) projects in 79 municipalities in Minas Gerais outside the concession area of Cemig (Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais).
Cemig SIM is a branch of Cemig, created with the objective of offering clean energy solutions to municipalities in Minas Gerais.

Congratulations on the report. We are experiencing a huge energy transition in Brazil and around the world. Many people still do not understand the damage that pollution is causing to the environment.
Finding renewable sources is extremely important for the environment. I work with projects in distributed generation of solar energy credits. From 8% to 20% and can reach up to 90% in savings for our residential and business clients. I am looking for partners to expand the project in Brazil.
