The module manufacturer JA Solar announced the plan to investment of RMB 40 billion (US$5,9 billion) for the construction of a vertically integrated photovoltaic industry center in the autonomous region in the north of China.

The document was signed on January 19th, together with the government of Ordos, city in Inner Mongolia. The aim is to produce 100 thousand tons of photovoltaic raw materials, 20 GW of solar wafer capacity, 30 GW photovoltaic battery and a 10 GW photovoltaic module plant.

According to JA Solar, Ordos' advantages in high-quality energy resources and policy could contribute to further expansion in production capacity.

The Chinese manufacturer plans to expand its integrated production capacity, including the new cell project Yangzhou and Qujing Phase IV, announced in November 2022, which will have an annual production of 10 GW of cells and 5 GW of modules.

“As a result, we can better meet the needs of customers around the world who are looking for high-efficiency, high-quality photovoltaic products,” adds the company.

The agreement, according to the manufacturer, is aligned with production capacity planning needs and will have a positive impact on its future development.
