MME releases energy auction schedule until 2023

The government published two decrees that establish the calendar for the coming years

The MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) published, this Tuesday (08), two ordinances that establish the auction schedules for contracting electricity until 2023. Through the Ordinance No. 435, the schedule for holding New Energy auctions was established. In 2021, “A-3” and “A-4” will take place in June, and “A-5” and “A-6” in September.

In 2022 and 2023, the forecast is to hold “A-4” auctions in April and “A-6” auctions in September of each year. According to the government, this Ordinance also includes the types of projects that may participate in the New Energy auctions to be held in 2021. The sources contemplated in each event are the same as in previous years.

Ordinance No. 436

In relation to auctions defined through the Ordinance No. 436, Existing Energy will be promoted in 2021, “A-4” and “A-5” in June, and “A-1” and “A-2” in December – both would initially happen in 2020.

According to the MME, the guidelines for these competitions will soon be changed and will include the reopening of registration for technical qualification of projects, ratification or rectification of declarations by distribution agents. In 2022 and 2023, the expectation is to hold the “A-1” and “A-2” auctions in December of each year.
