Betting on cost reduction and sustainability, the city hall of Maringá (PR) announced that it will build two photovoltaic plants. According to Pasta, solar will guarantee savings of R$2 million per month for public buildings – which will no longer be paid in energy bills.
The forecast is that the financing can be paid in less than three and a half years. From this, they stated that the resources used could be used for other services for the benefit of the community.
The Authority also highlighted that the plants – together they have 5 MW of power, with 11,3 s each – will help revitalize public lighting with LED lamps, providing more safety and reducing carbon emissions.

The city hall, through a partnership with Projeto Felicity, won the technical project to install the first system, covering almost 110 thousand m², in the Felizardo Meneguetti Industrial Park. The second, which is in the design phase, should be installed in the Iguatemi district region.
According to Pasta, the expectation is that the first unit will begin construction at the end of this year and that both projects will be operational in 2023.
In May, they signed an agreement with BRDE (Regional Development Bank), which provides a budget of R$30 million for sustainable initiatives, including the construction of the plant.
The municipality has already started drafting the of reference and is requesting authorization from the IAT (Water and Land Institute) and Copel for the construction of the first plant, in the Felizardo Meneguetti Industrial Park. After authorization, they must open a bidding process.
The project, which is part of a cooperation with the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), enabled cities and metropolitan regions, including Maringá, to develop and implement renewable energy programs eligible for international financing.
