O Maringa Regional Airport opened, on the 18th, a 850,20 kWp photovoltaic plant installed power. The plant occupies an area of 11,4 square meters and has around 1,5 modules and seven inverters. The generation estimate is 0,7 MWh.
With the plant in operation, the airport estimates a 95% reduction in energy costs, representing annual savings of R$1 million for the municipality. The project had an investment of R$5,3 million, was conceived by the City of Maringá and financed by BRDE (Regional Development Bank of the Far South).
According to the company, with the installation of the solar plant, the airport became the first regional air terminal and third in the country in energy self-sufficiency.
In addition to the installation of the plant, the airport underwent other improvements, such as expanding the landing and take-off runway, installing a system that facilitates aircraft landing in low visibility situations and improvements to the cargo warehouse to receive international cargo.
