The Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, will be summoned to Câmara dos Deputados to present the Ministry's action plan to ensure the restoration of electricity in São Paulo and the region, which still has properties without power.

The request inviting the minister to a public hearing was approved this Wednesday (30) at Mines and Energy Commission. In addition to the action plan, Silveira must present proposals to prevent future occurrences.

The public hearing will be held tly with the National Integration and Regional Development Commission, on a date to be agreed upon with the minister's agenda.

The author of the request, deputy Murillo Gouvea (União Brasil/RJ), claimed in the justification of the request that it is the ministry's responsibility to “manage and take the necessary actions to fulfill the concessionaires' obligation”.

“We request the presence of the minister to explain the actions necessary to restore energy in the region, as well as the public policies to be adopted in view of the ANEEL and Enel to avoid interruptions in essential services and economic losses that have been occurring recurrently in the city of São Paulo”, highlighted the parliamentarian.

“Transparency in government actions, ANEEL and Enel is essential for resolving the crisis. Communication with the population is essential so that society is aware of the progress of the work and the real deadlines for normalizing the energy supply,” he added.

Itaipu

The Chamber of Deputies' Mines and Energy Committee also approved the invitation to the general director of Itaipu Binacional, Enio Verri, to appear before the committee in order to clarify details of the agreement signed between that entity and CCA-PR (Central Cooperative for Agrarian Reform of Paraná), linked to the MST (Landless Workers' Movement), in the amount of R$81 million.

For deputy Evair Vieira de Melo (PP/ES), author of the request, the volume of resources involved gives rise to the need for a “constructive and transparent dialogue on this important topic, enabling the search for solutions that promote the public interest”.
