Serena has signed a long-term contract to supply renewable energy to BRK, a Brookfield group company that operates in the basic sanitation sector in 13 Brazilian states.

The energy will be generated at the Assuruá 5 wind farm, located in Xique-Xique, Bahia. The 15-year contract will begin in 2025.

The companies are already partners in the Free Energy Market, and this new agreement reinforces BRK's commitment to sustainable practices. With the new partnership, the company will stop emitting 64 thousand tons of carbon dioxide, contributing to the fulfillment of its sustainability goals in the basic sanitation sector.

According to Carlos Henrique Thompson, Commercial Director at BRK, the ESG agenda is one of the company's pillars, and the partnership with Serena is essential to increase the energy efficiency of its operations. “In addition to making our operations more energy efficient, we are contributing significantly to the environment,” said the executive in a press release.

Fabiana Pasquot Polido, Director of Global Structured Operations at Serena, reinforced the company's commitment to sustainable and competitive solutions.

“By strengthening our partnership with BRK, we are taking an important step in accelerating the transition to a cleaner and more efficient business model in the sanitation sector. This helps BRK continue to offer essential services that positively impact the population,” the executive said in a press release.
