The production of clean energy through GD (distributed generation) has been gaining ground in Brazil. According to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), but of 4 GW of energy are produced by the southern region of the country.

Among the highlighted states are Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina, with 2 GW, 1,7 GW and 578,8 MW, respectively.

The state of Rio Grande do Sul is the largest highlight of the region, given that today it is the third state in the national ranking to sur the 2 GW capacity mark in electricity generation, behind Minas Gerais and São Paulo.

Given this growth scenario, the Regional Distributed Generation Forum holds its 18th edition in Porto Alegre (RS), on the days April 26 and 27 in the Barra Shopping Sul event space, located at Av. Diário de Notícias, 300 – Cristal, Porto Alegre.

The event is ed by ABGD (Brazilian Association of Distributed Generation). For Guilherme Chrispim, president of the association, the energy sector is one of the fastest growing in Brazil and new milestones are being reached.

He also highlights that in just over a year, the state doubled its generation capacity, going from 1 GW in December 2021 to 2 GW in February 2023.

“In the coming years, expanding the diversification of sources used in distributed generation will be one of the sector’s challenges. We need to make better use of the possibilities in biomass and urban solid waste”, explains the executive.

According to Tiago Fraga, CEO of the FRG Mídias & Eventos Group, the company organizing the GD South Region Forum, the event aims to help further accentuate the sector's growth curve in the region.
