Os post offices plans to install 10,5 thousand solar s in 14 photovoltaic plants distributed across 10 state superintendencies, with an investment of up to R$21,1 million by 2029.

The initiative is part of a project by Correios, MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) and GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbei), which came together to present the pilot phase of RedEE Correios (Energy Efficiency and Distributed Generation Learning Network), in São Paulo (SP).

The project's goal is to save on the company's energy bill. In addition to implementing the plants, Correios plans to invest R$15,8 million in energy efficiency initiatives, with the aim of reducing energy consumption by 7,8 GWh per year, generating annual savings of R$4,2 million.

Claro has 75% of its energy consumption met by renewable sources

The energy efficiency project includes replacing more than 36 conventional lamps with LED technology, installing 376 automation sensors and modernizing more than 700 air conditioning units.

The general coordinator of Energy Efficiency at the MME, Samira Sousa, highlighted the importance of the adopted methodology, which has the potential to disseminate concepts and create a culture of energy efficiency in institutions.

“We are developing and testing pilot models that, in the long term, will adapt to the specific needs of the Brazilian reality in different sectors of the economy,” he said.

“The RedEEs figures show that almost half of the reduction in consumption comes from energy conservation and efficiency efforts, and the other half from investments in renewable energy. This is an extremely relevant result,” added Samira.
