When it comes to installing photovoltaic systems, safety needs to come first in everything, whether in planning or in commissioning – essential actions to ensure the longevity of the plant. Among the measures considered fundamental is, for example, preparation before climbing onto the roof, ensuring ideal and precise fixing when installing the solar s.
To highlight the main points in a project and give tips on installing photovoltaic systems on roofs, the Canal Solar spoke with engineer Augusto César Polinário, commercial analyst at Solar Group. Polinário highlighted that the first step is to perform an analysis to the physical condition of the roof, as well as to have it validated by a professional in charge of the area. “The roof must withstand at least an overload equivalent to the weight of the modules, fixing structure, equipment and installers. Around 30 to 40 kg/m²”, he explained.

Another point he highlighted is how the fixing structures will be assembled and fixed. “Normally, they are fixed to the roof structure, so it must be suitable for these implementations, guaranteeing the estimated time of 25 years that the system will be installed”.
“And how will the structures and equipment be taken to the roof? Generally, installers have special ladders that make it easier to climb the and equipment,” she pointed out.
Do manufacturers provide technical and after-sales ?
According to the expert, Solar Group, for example, provides technical , in which all salespeople are engineers and can assist in choosing the solution and installation. “And we have a specific after-sales department to deal with any incidents.”
“We make assistance quick and easy for customers. The warranty today is 12 years with an estimated useful life of 25 years,” he concluded.
Structural reinforcement for photovoltaic projects
When we add solar s and their fixing structures to roofs, in this case, we may be adding overload and efforts for which they are not prepared. In this scenario, what should be the biggest points of concern for photovoltaic system installers and integrators?
Reinaldo Burcon, industrial development engineer at Romagnole, commented that for structures parallel to the roof, with a small distance from the tiles, in most cases there are no additional aerodynamic efforts, just the weight of the structure itself. Click here and learn more.
