Install 1 million photovoltaic systems across the country, attract more than R$25 billion in investments and generate more than 150 thousand jobs. These are the objectives of the plan presented by ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy) to the Civil House.
According to Rodrigo Sauaia, executive president of ABSOLAR, the suggestions were forwarded to the Federal Government to integrate the Pró-Brasil program, launched in April by the Chief Minister of the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic, Braga Netto.
In an interview with Canal Solar, Sauaia stated that the plan presented by the association will be a lever for the recovery of the economy. “We are concerned about health, but, in addition to surviving, people need to live with quality and for that they need opportunities. Therefore, ABSOLAR has worked to present, to municipalities and states, tools that economic recovery through green recovery, generating more opportunities for society and attracting more investment to the country”.
“The plan to install 1 million roofs covers public buildings, residences, commerce and rural properties. In addition to the potential to attract more than R$25 billion in investments and generate 150 jobs, the plan should stimulate direct and indirect collection of approximately R$7,5 billion in taxes for municipalities and states”, he added.
Sauaia highlighted that this project to expand distributed generation through solar sources follows examples from the USA, and Japan, which are reference countries in the photovoltaic sector.
Democratic power source
Sauaia also highlighted that, among renewable energy sources, photovoltaic sources are the most democratic in the world. “Solar is the most democratic energy in the world because everything from small to large investments can be made. The solar source does not just depend on large investments. A low-income family, for example, can have access to solar energy through a social program,” he clarified.
He also commented on the potential for generating jobs and income that the solar source has. “When we talk about post-pandemic recovery, solar energy has synergistic characteristics. It is responsible for a third of all jobs generated from renewable sources in the world”, emphasized the executive.
Yellow Green House Program
Sauaia also reported that the ABSOLAR suggested to the Federal Government that it include the use of photovoltaic energy in houses built under the Casa Verde e Amarela program. “We suggest including solar energy in the Casa Verde e Amarela program, which will be launched during the economic recovery period. This way, each house will produce its own energy. This will benefit low-income families so that they have more resources to cover their living costs,” highlighted the executive.
