A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) took another step in the evolution of the free energy market with Public Consultation No. 07/2025, which proposes regulatory adjustments to increase competitiveness, ensure greater transparency and facilitate consumer migration. The contribution period ended on April 7.

The suggested changes include a clear separation between distributors and retailers, simplification of the hip processes and even the implementation of Open Energy, a model inspired by Open Banking to give consumers more autonomy. All of these changes prepare the free market for the future entry of Group B, such as households.

The proposals are already generating repercussions among sector agents, who are analyzing the impacts and challenges of these new rules.

To better understand these changes and their consequences for the market, we heard from Luiz Fernando Vianna, Institutional and Regulatory Vice President of Grupo Delta Energia; Fred Menezes, Executive Director of Armor Energia; and Walter Fróes, CEO of CMU Energy. They discuss the opportunities and risks of these changes and how they could reshape the industry in the coming years.
