The electricity bill for consumers served by EDP Espírito Santo could rise by up to 11,65% starting August 7th of this year, the date scheduled for the distributor's annual tariff adjustment.

The proposal was approved by the board of directors ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) and placed in public consultation so that society can send suggestions and contributions on the new indexes.

The highest adjustment, of 11,65%, should impact residential consumers and small businesses, which represent the majority of the base served by EDP in the state.

High voltage consumers, such as industries and large establishments, may have an average adjustment of 5,90%, while the average effect for all consumers of the distributor is estimated at 9,95%.

According to ANEEL, the main factor that justifies the increase in the electricity bill is the variation in the costs of purchasing energy — especially in purchase contracts with generators and in sector charges. Other elements considered are the investments made by the distributor and the impact of inflation on the electricity sector.

Open public consultation

The proposal will be available for public consultation between May 8 and June 24, 2025, with the possibility of participation through the official website of ANEEL.

Contributions to the consultation should be sent by email as follows:

After this period, the Agency will analyze the contributions received and publish the final adjustment to be applied in August. EDP Espírito Santo serves approximately 1,6 million consumer units in 70 municipalities in the state.
