Eight months after the departure of former director Hélvio Guerra, and successive internal clashes, the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) has introduced the new member of its board. This is engineer Ludimila Lima da Silva, who took over as acting director. In the session held on Tuesday (28), the second of the year, she was introduced in her new role.
General Director Sandoval Feitosa wished his new colleague success, highlighting the situation faced by the regulatory agency throughout 2024, a period in which the top management had one less member and there was no agreement with the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) for Hélvio's replacement.
“A ANEEL had a vacant position since the end of director Hélvio's term in May. The vacancy on the collegiate board for eight months impacted the agency's management, resulting in an accumulation of istrative activities and processes, tied votes or votes without a minimum majority, challenges in guaranteeing a minimum quorum for deliberations, in addition to other inconveniences that we had during internal management”, he listed.
The CEO stressed that the Executive Branch still has the prerogative to nominate a new person to take over the mandate permanently. As deputy director, Ludimila will serve six months in the role.
“The vacancy is filled by the institution of substitute directors. Obviously, the Executive Branch has the prerogative to forward the name to the Federal Senate, so that it can conduct a hearing and receive the appropriate approval. But until then, I would like to express our immense happiness at having the list approved (with Ludimila’s name), despite the eight months it took to be approved, but I am certain, based on the doctor’s professional history, that all the problems we had will be quickly resolved,” said Sandoval.
The new deputy director highlighted in her speech that she started as an intern at ANEEL in 1997, one year after the law that created the regulatory agency. She had been appointed as superintendent of Concessions, Permits and Authorizations for Electric Energy Services in 2023. “I am very pleased to be here, it is very challenging, but I believe in the growth that will come from this experience”, highlighted Ludimila.
Ludimila graduated in Civil Engineering from UnB (University of Brasília), and has been a specialist in the regulation of public energy services since 2007. She has held positions such as Deputy Superintendent of Generation Concessions and Authorizations and Board Advisor. She currently leads the Superintendence of Concessions, Permissions and Authorizations for Electric Energy Services.
