ANEEL opens 2nd phase of public consultation on hybrid power plants

A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) opened, this Wednesday (18), the second phase of Public Consultation 061/2020. The process aims to discuss with society the standardization for the establishment of hybrid and associated plants. According to the Agency, the use of hybrid or associated plants can bring efficiency gains to the electrical system, complementing generation and optimized use of the grid, reducing operating costs and the need to invest in expansion.

The regulation proposed by the agency presents the parameters for granting hybrid and associated generating plants and also for contracting the use of transmission systems. In addition, the proposal defines the way in which these projects will be priced and the application of discounts on the rates for the use of transmission and distribution systems.

“What we are looking for is a simple standard that guarantees the freedom of investors in choosing the best technological solutions, but always taking care to avoid the redistribution of network costs and the creation of cross subsidies”, explains Elisa Bastos, director of agency.

According to ANEEL, in the first phase of the consultation, the agency received 141 contributions from 28 participants and half of them were accepted in full or in part by the technical areas. The second phase of the consultation is available until September 16, 2021 by email [email protected]. To view the draft standard and other related documents, visit the website of ANEEL.
