The public consultation for the Auction of Capacity Reserve in the form of Power (LRCAP 2025) begins this Thursday (27). This was the determination of the board of directors of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), which unanimously authorized the implementation of the document exchange modality. The collection of information and subsidies for the auction will be open for 47 days, until April 14, on the website ANEEL on the internet for Public Consultation No. 010/2025.

The LRCAP is scheduled for June 27, for the contracting of electrical power from new and existing generation projects, originating from hydroelectric and thermoelectric plants using natural gas and biofuels. Authorized by MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), the auction will be held online by the (Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber), coordinated by ANEEL.

The auction will be contracted based on power availability. The MME will also define the reserve amount, based on studies by the EPE (Energy Research Company) and the ONS (National System Operator). The natural gas and biofuel thermoelectric generation projects will be separated into nine products, six existing and three new projects. The contracts for each segment will be for 10 and 15 years, respectively.

There will also be a tenth product, exclusively for expanding the installed capacity of existing hydroelectric plants, which add additional dispatchable power capacity to the SIN (National Interconnected System). This will have a 15-year supply, starting in 2030. ANEEL foresees that the notice will be approved and published by May 22, just over a month after the end of the public consultation.
