Unanimously, the board of directors of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) approved a proposal to open a public consultation to improve the New Energy Auction A-5.

The contest is intended for the purchase of electricity from new generation projects. The collection of information and additional subsidies will take place from this Wednesday (26) until May 12.

Announced by MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) at the end of last year, the New Energy Auction is scheduled to take place on July 25 – just over two months after the deadline for the completion of the public consultation. Received with great anticipation by representatives of the energy sector, the auction ed a record number of hydroelectric projects.

In February, the MME announced that 225 projects were ed, including Hydroelectric Generating Plants, Small Hydroelectric Plants and Hydroelectric Power Plants. The total installed capacity is 2.884 MW.

This year's numbers sured those presented in the last A-5 Auction, in 2022. At the time, there were 90 ed projects and 1.516 MW of installed power.
