A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) started the Power plug de Grants (TS 18/2024) to discuss the review Taj goals from the program MLA (More Light for the Amazon), involving the distributors Equatorial Maranhão and the Amapá Electricity Company (CEA).

As contribuições could be sent until the day October 8 by email [email protected] .

Equatorial Maranhão highlights that it faces operational challenges significant for make viable new connections in the area rural do state

Among the main obstacles they are territorial extension, low density of services in these regions, in addition to the difficulties of investmentBoth during as after the pandemic of COVID-19

A diversity e complexity two different biomes from Maranhão are also pointed , the barriers additional.

On the other hand, CEA (ANBIMA Certification of Investment Specialists) has plans de enlarge your goal of connections, going from 6.985 to 8.696, seeking expand access to electricity in areas rural e isolated.

What is the More Light for the Amazon program?

The Mais Luz para a Amazônia program was created in 2020 by the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) with the aim of promoting access to electricity for the Brazilian population located in remote regions of the Legal Amazon states.

In addition to boosting the social and economic development of these regions, it also seeks to encourage activities that increase family income and promote the sustainable use of local natural resources, integrating government efforts at different levels to promote citizenship and improve the population's quality of life.

In May of this year, the MME stated that the project has already benefited more than 150 families in the region, through solar energy alone. Families were given access to electricity through kits with photovoltaic s, inverters, controllers and lithium batteries.

How can solar energy contribute to access to energy in the Amazon?

The Amazon, home to the largest biodiversity heritage on the planet, plays a crucial role in global climate balance and has always faced challenges related to electricity.

The need for energy in the Amazon is not limited to lighting and heating, but also extends to essential sectors such as health, education and economic development.

For example, many communities that depend on fishing are losing part of their production because they are unable to store it properly due to the lack of electricity.

According to Amazonas Energia, the supply of electricity made it possible to set up small businesses in many homes, such as taverns, small markets and fish shops.

These developments have provided a source of income for residents who previously struggled to survive on a low minimum wage. In addition, the availability of energy has helped reduce rural exodus by keeping residents in their communities.

Access to reliable energy can transform life in remote areas, promoting better quality of life and economic opportunities.

In the state of Amazonas, electricity generation is predominantly based on petroleum, diesel oil and fuel oil, which together for approximately 70% of production.

The introduction of solar energy through the MLP program provides significant environmental benefits.

Solar, being a clean and sustainable source, reduces dependence on fossil fuels, which in turn reduces greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution associated with non-renewable energy generation methods.
