Athon Energia announced this Monday (17) the acquisition of 23 photovoltaic plants from GreenYellow, adding 50,68 MWp to its installed capacity. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

The projects are located in Paraná, São Paulo, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso and Rio de Janeiro, in addition to the Federal District.

The conclusion of the transaction still depends on the approval of regulatory bodies, including CADE (istrative Council for Economic Defense).

According to Athon, the new plants will have the capacity to generate around 100 GWh per year, enough to supply more than 51 thousand homes and avoid the emission of 35 thousand tons of CO₂.

Breno Megale, managing partner of Athon Energia, stated that the acquisition is part of the company's strategy to consolidate itself in the distributed generation market, offering long-term solutions for corporate clients, especially in the infrastructure sector.

Marcelo Xavier, president of GreenYellow in Brazil, highlighted that the operation is in line with the company's strategy of acting as an asset operator, promoting the rotation of part of them to enable new investments in the country.

With the purchase, Athon Energia expands its operational capacity to more than 210 MWp, distributed across 70 assets. This is the company's second acquisition. The first occurred in December 2023, when it acquired 13 plants from Raízen Gera Desenvolvedora, adding 50 MWp to the portfolio.

In October 2024, Athon held the largest issuance of incentivized debentures in the distributed generation sector, raising R$605 million, with an AAA rating granted by the Fitch agency.
