The government of Bahia signed a protocol for the installation a photovoltaic module factory in the city of Camaçari (BA). The protocol was signed on Tuesday (8) by Jerônimo Rodrigues, governor of the State, and the German company Si&Mex Solutions.

In a press release, the government reported that “with a planned investment of 2 billion dollars, the project aims to serve 25% of the national market in the first five years of operation, consolidating Bahia as an industrial hub of international relevance in the renewable energy sector ”.

Still according to the government of Bahia, the CBPM (Companhia Bahia de Pesquisa Mineral) will have a 5% participation in the project, which will be implemented in Bahia by the German company Si&Mex.

Without going into details about which processes the manufacturing unit will have, the government stated that the partnership includes the annual supply of 2 tons of quartz and up to 500 tons of high-purity silica.

The government's forecast is that the implementation of the project will stimulate the generation of 3 direct jobs and 4 indirect jobs.

The project is in partnership with Sedur (Urban Development Secretariat), of the secti (Secretariat of Science and Technology) and the BAHIAINVESTE (a company linked to the State Secretariat for Economic Development), in addition to the secretariats of sefaz (Finance Secretariat) and SDE (Secretariat of Economic Development).

O Canal Solar ed the government of the State of Bahia to obtain more details about the implementation of the factory. However, until the last update of this report there was no response.
