Azul Linhas Aéreas announced the creation of a new business unit focused on offsetting carbon emissions for companies in various sectors.
The initiative aims to offer and personalized strategies for organizations seeking to neutralize their carbon footprint and advance the climate agenda.
The company's new unit will act as a facilitator in the acquisition of carbon credits for its corporate clients. To this end, Azul has established strategic partnerships with companies such as Auren, BTG Systemica, Caixa Econômica and GSS, which will be responsible for providing the credits.
“We want to offer corporate clients a portfolio that includes not only the bridge and security of our brand for the commercialization of high integrity carbon credits, but also expert guidance and analysis to make the acquisition as efficient as possible,” explains Filipe Alvarez, sustainability manager at Azul.
Carbon market and opportunities for companies
Azul's new unit will operate in voluntary carbon credit market, allowing companies from different segments to acquire credits aligned with their needs.
“Each credit is equivalent to one ton of CO2 emissions on the market, and we already have credits available for sale at competitive prices so that each client can build their credit portfolio in line with their needs,” says Alvarez.
Furthermore, the company is already preparing for the regulated carbon market in Brazil, established by means of a law sanctioned at the end of 2024.
“Our focus is to offer reliable, diversified and accessible solutions for companies of all sizes and sectors that want to be prepared for the new Brazilian carbon market and even to lead the climate agenda in the coming years,” concludes the executive.
