BNDES will buy R$8,7 million in carbon credits

The five developers were selected with conservation projects (REDD+) and energy generators

BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) announced this Thursday (26) the purchase of R$ 8,7 million in carbon credit of five companies selected in the Selection of the Public Call for Acquisition of up to R$10 million in Carbon Credits.

Among the 11 proposals that the bank received, developers were selected, together with their respective partners. They are: Biofílica, Solví, Sustainable Carbon, Carbonext and Tembici.

After the selection process, the projects will undergo due diligence that will consider technical and legal assessments to be carried out by BNDES teams.

In March 2022, BNDES launched a public call for the acquisition of carbon credits, in which proponents were invited to participate in a selection process to present technical and commercial proposals related to projects of REDD+ origin (reduction of emissions from deforestation and forest degradation), reforestation and energy, with the purpose of acquiring carbon credits by BNDESPAR.

Bruno Laskowsky, director of Participations, Capital Markets and Indirect Credit at BNDES, states that BNDES, through the unprecedented initiative of acquiring carbon credits, makes an important contribution to promoting the carbon market and reinforces the country's decarbonization culture.
