German club Borussia Dortmund has announced a partnership with Chinese manufacturer JA Solar to install solar s on the roof of the Signal Iduna Park Stadium.
In total, more than 11 thousand modules will cover the famous “yellow wall” – generating enough energy to a thousand matches with the floodlights on.
Installation is scheduled to begin in the European summer and is expected to be completed by the end of the season. The move promises to reduce around 18.000 tonnes of CO₂ per year.
“We are delighted to partner with JA Solar, which will play an important role in the planned renovation of the stadium’s rooftop photovoltaic system. This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and innovative technologies,” said Carsten Cramer, Managing Director of Borussia Dortmund.
The novelty will be officially presented by JA at Intersolar Europe, in Munich, between May 7th and 9th.
