Brasilia DF), leads the ranking of solar energy production with a record of 413 MW of installed power na own generation. The data is from ANEEL (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association) and the ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association).

Currently, iFederal Government investments make the city an ideal environment for photovoltaic generation. Furthermore, your geographical location, with a small territorial extension, high solar irradiation and more than six months of drought per year, favors the solar sector.

There are more than 20 thousand operational connections installed on roofs and small plots of land, that is, more than 21 thousand consumers have a reduction in their electricity bill.

Since 2012, the solar sector has attracted more than BRL 2 billion in investments for the district, generating around 12 jobs and contributing to R$600 million for public coffers.

On June 8 of this year, the Federal District inaugurated the first public photovoltaic plant. With 1.492 modules, and energy credits for Executive buildings, this is capable of supplying 80 public buildings.

A Emater-DF (Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the Federal District) implemented a program of encouraging the use of renewable energy in agribusiness. Furthermore, the company trains and qualifies technicians and technically guides producers, cooperatives and associations on sustainable technologies.

The initiatives developed are low cost, highly efficient, easy to monitor and maintain, and use techniques and equipment that save water to combat the water scarcity typical of the cerrado.

Solar in Health

O HCB (Brasília Children's Hospital) is the first public health institution to adopt solar energy. With 5.400 photovoltaic s, HCB hopes to achieve 85% energy autonomy and savings of approximately R $ 213 thousand per month. The project began in March this year, but will only be completed in the next six months.

Solar in Education

Public schools in the Federal District are also adopting the solar energy. Currently, three initiatives serve seven school units, benefiting more than five thousand students and staff, and two others are in the process of being implemented. Educational institutions benefit from almost 100% of their electricity bill, paying only a fixed minimum fee of R$80.

The Department of Education plans to expand the project to reach as many schools as possible in the coming years. With 150 school units, it will be possible supply the entire education network exclusively with solar energy generated.

Solar in sanitation

A Caesb (Environmental Sanitation Company of the Federal District) invested more than R$3,7 million in photovoltaic plants in the last seven years. As a result, there was a reduction in operating costs and an improvement in the quality of services.

The recently opened ETE (Sewage Treatment Plant) do Gama, will produce 11.500 KWH per month, which is equivalent to 4,25% of your consumption. This results in a saving of R$5,4 thousand monthly on the station's electricity bill.
