EPE (Energy Research Company) ed 327 generation projects for the Capacity Reserve Auction in the form of Power (LRCAP 2025), totaling 74 GW. The data was released last Friday (7).

The ed volume represents a record, reflecting the accumulation of projects in the pipeline due to the absence of energy auctions in recent years. The event is scheduled to take place on June 27, with the aim of contracting power to increase the operational flexibility of the SIN (National Interconnected System).

New and existing thermoelectric plants and expansion of hydroelectric plants will be contracted. Of the total ed, 67% correspond to new thermoelectric plants, 30% to existing thermoelectric plants and 3% to expansion of hydroelectric plants.

The auction will feature ten products, six of which are intended for existing thermal power plants, three for new thermal power plants and one for hydroelectric plants, with a supply period between 2025 and 2030. According to EPE, 87 biofuel thermoelectric plants (6.963 MW), 228 natural gas thermoelectric plants (61.635 MW) and 12 hydroelectric plant expansions (5.476 MW) were ed.
