The LEE (Existing Energy Auctions) organized by CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber) and the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) this Friday (06) negotiated approximately 2.130 MWmed, a volume almost three times greater than the competitions held at the end of 2023.

The broad competitiveness of the operations will generate savings of more than R$1,15 billion for Brazilian consumers. In total, the financial amount traded was R$6,04 billion.

“The results demonstrate that the auctions were successful in achieving their objectives of bringing efficiency to energy contracting in the sector and savings for Brazilian consumers,” said Alexandre Ramos, president of the CCEE Board of Directors.

“We carried out a simple, efficient and safe competitive process, which led to a volume of participation from sellers and buyers that we have not seen in years. Once again, the partnership between CCEE and ANEEL generates gains for the population, attractiveness for investors and balance for the market”, he highlighted.

LEE A-1, with supply starting on January 1, 2025, generated R$4,6 billion to contract 1.621 MWmed. The discount recorded was 18,88%, which allowed savings of R$1,072 billion compared to the initial price.

LEE A-2, which foresees the supply of energy from January 1, 2026, totaled R$1,4 billion in transactions for the acquisition of 508,8 MWmed. The negotiation had an average discount of 5,26% and promoted savings of R$79,7 million compared to the ceiling price. There were no product negotiations in LEE A-3.

The director of ANEEL Fernando Mosna, rapporteur of the auctions, highlighted that their holding demonstrates the progress of the Brazilian electricity sector since the first existing energy auction held by the Agency and CCEE, in 2004.

“At that time, we sought to diversify the matrix, which was already renewable, with 76% of hydroelectric power. Today, solar and wind sources, which were non-existent at the time, for 33% of our matrix. This fact shows how important planning in the electricity sector is and how t action by entities can achieve great feats like those we have seen in the last 20 years,” he concluded.

The auctions were held in virtual format and the full result can be seen at CCEE website.
