Centralized solar energy generation grows 41% in February

In February, the generation of centralized solar energy reached the mark of 2.956 MWmed, marking a notable 41% growth compared to the same period of the previous year, according to data provided by CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber).

Furthermore, thermoelectric energy production also had a significant performance, achieving 6.476 MWmed, which represents an increase of around 30,03% compared to that recorded in February of the previous year.

O Canal Solar has been warning about the continued increase in fossil energy generation in Brazil since last year. 

As hydraulic plants presented a positive performance, with a 6% growth and a total production of 58.805 MWmed. On the other hand, the wind power suffered a 5,7% drop, totaling 9.089 MWmed.

In total, energy generation in SIN (National Interconnected System) increased by 7,1% in February, totaling 77.307 MWmed.

Energy consumption

In the same period, the electricity consumption in SIN it reached 73.467 MWmed, ing a increase of 5,7%. Analyzing by marketing environment, there was an increase of 6,9% in regulated marketo, while the Free Energy Market had a growth of 3,6%.

The biggest increases in consumption were observed in the states of Amazonas (28,4%), Acre (16,9%), Mato Grosso do Sul (14,4%) and Maranhão (13,2%), while only Bahia ( -1,0%) and the Federal District (-2,8%) showed a drop.
