Na first half of May, production effective of electrical energy in without (National Interconnected System) totaled 74.311 MWmed, an increase of 6,3% compared to the 69.897 MWmed generated in the same period in 2023.

The production of wind and photovoltaic parks stands out, which generated 11.563 MWmed and 3.103 MWmed, respectively, representing expansion of 48,2% and 45,6% compared to the previous year.

Hydroelectric plants generated 51.440 MWmed, with a slight increase of 0,2%, while thermal plants ed a reduction of 4,8%, totaling 8.205 MWmed.

Those Preliminary data are in the biweekly bulletin of CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber), referring to May 1st to 15th.

Energy consumption in RS drops 10,9%

According to the CCEE, the electricity consumption ed in the SIN was 70.055 MWmed in the first half of May, around 7,3% higher than the 65.270 MWmed recorded in the same period in 2023.

When analyzing energy contracting environments, the Captive Market showed an increase of 12,6%, while the Mercado Livre had a slight drop of 0,6%.

By sectors of activity, services (6,8%), transport (5,6%) and wood, paper and cellulose (3,3%) showed the biggest growth.

Na regional analysis, stands out the 10,9% drop in consumption in Rio Grande do Sul. Although the regional captive market ed an increase, largely due to data estimates by CCEE, there was a drop in all sectors of Mercado Livre.

According to CCEE, this scenario is explained by the action of a high pressure system over the Southeast of the country, which maintained the rain and reduced temperatures restricted to the South.

In the first days of May, an episode of significant precipitation caused floods and landslides, leading several cities in RS to declare a public calamity.
