The city of São José dos Pinhais (PR) has gained an Araucária Solar, which will supply energy to the new Afonso Penha Bus Terminal, serving around 30 thousand people daily. The inauguration is scheduled for April 24th.

The work, created by visual artist André Baía, is inspired by the native tree of Paraná. The structure, approximately 5 meters high and 8 meters wide, has eight photovoltaic modules.

It is estimated that, throughout the year, the araucaria generates around 5.670 kWh, enough to power 310 10 W LED lamps for 5 hours a day.

The project was carried out by the Company tree and by the Ministry of Culture, through the Culture Incentive Law, with from town hall from São José dos Pinhais and private initiatives.

In addition to the installation, seven workshops will be offered to students from the public school system, focusing on the production of works of art using sustainable materials, under the guidance of artist André Baía.
