Coffee farmer Ricardo Fernando da Silva, who lives in São Sebastião do Paraíso (MG), located in the Termópolis region, saved 71% on his home's energy bill with a solar energy project.

The photovoltaic project installed by the Solarprime franchise network has 16 solar s, 12 of which are 400 Wp modules and 4 of which are 550 Wp, achieving a monthly generation of 858 kWh.

Without a photovoltaic system in his home, the small farmer spent an average of R$700 per month on his energy bill. After installing a photovoltaic system, Fernando now pays less than R$200 per month on his electricity bill, which represents a saving of 71%.

The project was installed in 2021 and has already saved R$29 and helped Ricardo invest in his own coffee brand, “Terra dos Ipês”.

"With the savings generated, we also invested in more machinery for drying and processing coffee, which will contribute to improving the quality of the product. Due to the success of the initiative, we are also studying the possibility of expanding solar energy systems in the future”, commented the coffee grower.

The rural sector has adopted sustainable energy alternatives, with agribusiness ing for 14% of the power generated by solar sources in Brazil. This represents 4,2 MW of a total of approximately 234 thousand DG (distributed generation) systems installed in the country.
