Cogecom, a shared generation cooperative from Paraná, ended December 2024 with 50 thousand consumer units under management, ing a growth of 177,78% in its member base compared to the same period in 2023.
Cogecom operates in the management of renewable energy credits, managing plants with power between 35 kW and 5 MW. In addition to assuming ownership of the plants, the cooperative manages all electricity production and distributes the surplus to its .
In December 2023, Cogecom managed 800 plants (solar, PCH and CGH), with an installed capacity of approximately 120 MWp. One year later, this number jumped to 1.900 active plants, totaling 450 MWp, representing a significant growth of 275% in installed capacity.
Initially present in Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, Cogecom expanded its operations to Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Goiás, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, consolidating its presence in new markets.
“We had a very interesting 2024, reaping the fruits of a productive 2023 in investments and project installations. The year was marked by the start of operations of several plants, the completion of new projects to attract cooperative started in 2023 and strategic partnerships with major market players, resulting in exponential growth,” said Energy Acquisition Manager, Jean Rafael Fontes.
Fontes explains that the entry into force of Law 14.300/2022 drove a large increase in the installation of plants in 2023, many of which began operating in 2024. “We began capturing plants in the second half of 2023 and we did not expect such a significant volume”, he highlighted.
To keep up with this growth, the cooperative needed to invest in technology, automation and team expansion. “We invested R$2,5 million in CRM and expanded our internal staff by 120%,” Fontes revealed.
In 2025, the cooperative projects the entry into operation of 1.000 plants, adding 150 MW of installed capacity, with the majority consisting of 75 kW plants.
“This year, our focus will be on consolidating our operations in the southern states, strengthening our presence in São Paulo and adopting a more moderate approach in the other states. Goiás, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul represent major challenges, due to the complexity of the concessionaires for energy compensation. Our main objective is to ensure quality service, guarantee delivery and promote distributed generation”, concluded Fontes.
