The acronym ESG (Environmental Social and Governance) has gained more and more space in business and construction. Concern about issues related to the environment, governance and sustainability is also beginning to be seen in Brazilian buildings.

Currently, of the 2,5 condominiums ed in the wallet Condo, exclusive bank for the segment, 22% of the total of requests of credits aims to installation of photovoltaic systems, against only 12% for security improvements e 2% for installation of remote entrances.

Rodrigo Della Rocca, CEO and co-founder of CondoConta, notes that, in addition to favoring the environment, the installation of painéis solares also provides long term savings. “And in Brazil we have the advantage that the climate facilitates the installation of clean energy in condominiums,” he said.

Only in 2022, Condo provided more than R$100 million in condominium credit for Brazil. The cities that requested the most financing for infrastructure works, renovations, solar energy installation and security were São Paulo-SP (R$2,7 million); Florianópolis-SC (R$ 2,2 million) and Recife-PE (R$ 1,4 million).

For Bruno Queiroz, new business manager at Cipa, company that works with condominium istration, one of the main reasons that explain the increased interest of condominiums in the source is the cost of electrical energy in the country, which accumulates increases above inflation in the last years.

“A condominium that now has its own solar energy system is completely excluded from the adjustments applied by concessionaires. The consumer is no longer held hostage by yellow and red flags and ignores water scarcity, at least in of energy supply,” he said.
