Approximately a thousand professionals, mostly women, attended the 2nd edition of the Women in Energy Congress, held in Brasília (DF) on the 7th and 8th of March.
The congress had exclusively women among the speakers. The participating audience was very diverse, bringing together CEOs, researchers, engineers, lawyers, entrepreneurs, investors and other professionals who work in the sector.
For Lúcia Abadia, creator of the congress, “the impossible does not exist for those who have faith and determination”. “In a segment responsible for generating 11,5 million jobs in the world and with the prospect of creating 42 million jobs by 2050, expectations are as positive as possible for women”, recalls Lúcia.
During the event, topics related to regulation of the electricity sector, trends in the renewable energy market, business modeling in the DG (distributed generation) and Free Energy Market segments, diversity and female representation were explored.
The first day opened with the “Proposals for the Brazilian energy sector”, which addressed the modernization of the Brazilian electricity sector and the country's energy transition.
The had the participation of Adriana Drumond, superintendent of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency); Isabela Sales Viera, head of the Special Advisory Office on Regulatory Affairs of the Executive Secretariat of the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy); and Renata Isfer, founding partner of Interalli Gás e Energia.
In the morning there was also the “Solar energy and its growth in the national market”, moderated by Miriam Diniz, from Elétron Energy; Clarissa Zomer, from Arquitetando Energia; Luana Velasco, teacher at the Brasília unit; Ana Carolina Ribeiro, from Evoltz; and Paula Klajnberg, from Electy.
In the afternoon of Tuesday (7), the regulation of Law 14.300 was discussed, by Bárbara Rubim, from Bright Strategies; Elbia Gannoum, from Abeeólica; Carolina Dias, from Rgmegus e Pontes Advogados; and Ana Capelhucknik, from Lemon Energia.
Another topic explored on the first day was professional education in renewable energy as a way for more women to work in the sector. During this , the importance of professional qualifications was explored, which educational programs exist in the country and how women can train themselves professionally.
This included the participation of Saunaray Barra, from Senai MG; Caroline Dutra, from GIZ Projetos Interligados; Karina Ribeiro, from the Eldorado Institute; Lúcia Abadia, creator of the congress; and Liza Rocha, from Oca Solar Energia.
The first day closed with the “Energy for those who: new renewables in sensitive biomes”, which addressed the reality of professionals who work in communities that are not in the SIN (National Interconnected System).
This topic was explored by Professor Moema Hofstaetter, researcher at LISAT/UFRN; Jussara Salgado, responsible for the Saúde e Alegria/Santarém project; Rosalina Albuquerque; indigenous Darlene Taukane, from the Yukamaniru Institute for to Bakari Women; and Gerusa Alves, from Acoterra (Terra Sertaneja Community Association).
On the second day, topics related to the energy transition, risk prevention in energy purchase and sale contracts on the free market, challenges and opportunities in the ACL (Free Contracting Environment) and digital marketing strategies were discussed.
Raquel Zhou, regional director Latam Chint, presented the scenario and opportunities in the renewable energy sector on the global stage. The green hydrogen theme was explored by Laiz Hérida, CEO of HL Soluções Ambientais, Samara Santos, engineer at WWF and Samanta Pineda, founding partner of Pineda e Krahn Sociedade de Advogados.
The closing was with the lecture “Isolated systems and serving communities”, bringing case studies of storage systems applications. The lecture was given by Zilda Costa, Commercial Director at Unicoba.
