The loan granted by BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) to energy distributors to compensate for the drop in consumption during the Covid-19 pandemic will be paid by consumers. The payment period will be 54 to 60 months and the charge will be included in the rate.
Preliminary calculations indicate that the value of the BNDES loan will be approximately R$17 billion. The amount should reach companies' cash s in the coming weeks. And, to prevent consumers from migrating to the free market to avoid paying the charge, the Federal Government will prohibit migration.
