Loan granted to distributors by BNDES will be paid by consumers

Preliminary calculations indicate that the value of the BNDES loan will be approximately R$17 billion

The loan granted by BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) to energy distributors to compensate for the drop in consumption during the Covid-19 pandemic will be paid by consumers. The payment period will be 54 to 60 months and the charge will be included in the rate.

Preliminary calculations indicate that the value of the BNDES loan will be approximately R$17 billion. The amount should reach companies' cash s in the coming weeks. Drop in energy consumption

Electricity consumption is expected to fall by 0,9% this year in Brazil, according to data from the 1st Quarterly Load Review of 2020 for the Annual Energy Operation Planning (2020-2024), carried out by EPE (Energy Research Company), in tly with the CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber) and the ONS (National Electric System Operator).

The previous forecast was that consumption in the country would grow by 4,2%. When reviewing the growth projection, institutions also estimate a reduction in the burden for the coming years.
