One of the parliamentarians most closely linked to the electricity sector in the country, federal deputy Lafayette de Andrada (Republicanos-MG) may leave the CME (Mines and Energy Committee) of the Chamber of Deputies. A member of the committee since 2021, he may have to leave to fulfill a party mission, according to an investigation by the report by Canal Solar.

In the last few hours, his name has been mentioned in the party to assume the presidency of the CFT (Finance and Taxation Committee), one of the most prestigious in the House. The president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta, a fellow party member of Lafayette, set this Tuesday (18) as the deadline for defining the 30 permanent committees.

Dispute over leadership of the Mining and Energy Commission stalls votes in the Chamber

One of the customs of Parliament is that committee chairs do not take up positions in other committees. This is a strategy so that other parliamentarians can be honored as regular of the other committees. Not to mention the commitments that the position of commander demands.

During participation in the forum of Abrapch (Brazilian Association of PCHs and CGHs), in Brasília, Lafayette was honored for his parliamentary performance by the sector. He limited himself to saying that the decisions of the collegiate bodies should be released this Tuesday. “My performance for the sector will continue, regardless of any issue. The leaders must close this issue soon”, he summarized.
