As already reported by Canal Solar at the beginning of the year, the Focus Energia, an integrated electric energy business platform, intends to build the Futura Project which, according to the company, will be the largest photovoltaic plant under construction with bifacial modules, trackers and string inverters in Latin America.
Considering the environmental authorizations already issued, approximately 2 thousand hectares will be allocated for the implementation of the 22 parks in the first phase of the project, with 38,73 MWp each. It is estimated that more than 8 thousand direct and indirect jobs will be created throughout its construction.
The park will be located approximately 40 km from the urban center of Juazeiro (BA) and when the works are completed its total capacity will be approximately 852 MWp, with investment expected to be more than 2,2 billion reais. The start of works is scheduled for April this year and the start of commercial operation of the plant is scheduled for the first half of 2022.
For construction, Focus Energia chose the manufacturer Sungrow as a supplier of inverters and transformation stations for the implementation of the first phase of the Futura project. According to Sungrow, more than 100 transformation stations, more than 3 inverters will be provided, in addition to commissioning and startup services.
“It was clear to Sungrow that some factors were decisive for g the contract, such as the high performance of its inverters compared to the market, the flexibility of reactive energy production day and night, the reduction of capacitor banks necessary to meet the requirements of the study of connection to the concessionaire's network and, also, the fact that the SG250HX Inverter of 250kW and 12 MPPTs is already suitable for the use of new photovoltaic modules with high power above 600 Wp”, stated Rafael Ribeiro, president of Sungrow Brasil.
Still according to the executive, another fundamental difference was the high performance and low losses in the energy transformation of its equipment. “The transformers supplied by Sungrow have high efficiency and, when compared to those normally sold in the Brazilian market, offer a yield of at least 0,2% in higher energy generation, due to the manufacturing processes and low equipment losses. All of this translates into greater efficiency and the possibility of optimizing the project’s overall investment”, explained Ribeiro.
