Electric car market gains battery that redefines safety standards

Among the advantages of the new equipment are the slow release of heat and low heat generation

“It will be a revolution in modern lithium batteries for vehicles.” According to Adalberto Maluf, sustainability director at BYD Brasil, this is the expectation with the launch of the Blade battery, a product developed by BYD that redefines safety standards for electric cars around the world.

The official announcement was made during an online event in China, which was attended by Wang Chuanfu, global president of BYD. Among the advantages of the new equipment are slow heat release and low heat generation, the ability to not release oxygen during breakdowns and not catch fire.

“The new chemistry and design of Blade lithium batteries create the safest battery on the global market. It is the answer to a long research process to create a fire- and explosion-proof battery,” said Maluf.

Due to the structure of the Blade battery, space utilization is optimized by more than 50% compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate blocks, according to the company.

The Han EV, BYD's flagship sedan model scheduled to be launched in June this year, will come equipped with the Blade battery. According to He Long, vice president of BYD, other vehicle brands are also discussing partnerships based on battery technology.

BYD and Toyota launch BYD TOYOTA EV Technology

BYD and Toyota announced that the creation of the t Venture, responsible for conducting research and development of new battery technologies for electric vehicles (BEVs). The union of the two forces had been announced on November 7, 2019 and the registration has just been formalized. The start of operations is scheduled for May 2020.
