Enel X installs solar plant for food company in CE

All energy generated will be directed to Nutrê hotels, restaurants and food supply centers in Ceará

Enel X has installed a distributed mini-generation photovoltaic solar plant in the municipality of São Gonçalo do Amarante (CE) for Nutrê, a company that operates in the food industry in the state. The photovoltaic plant has 1.340 solar s and a capacity of approximately 500 kWp. All the energy generated will be directed to Nutrê's hotels, restaurants and food supply centers in Ceará.

The project is the most recent launch in a portfolio of 76 Enel X DG (distributed generation) projects completed in Brazil, in addition to another 18 that are being developed by the company in the country.

According to Leandro Abreu, responsible for the e-Industries area at Enel of projects of this type, due to the abundance of natural resources throughout the year.

According to João Lucas Sotero, head of Nutrê, the benefits of installing a solar photovoltaic plant are seen throughout the company's supply chain. “Here in Ceará, we have very favorable climate conditions for the use of renewable energy sources. In addition to the sustainability issue, which is fully aligned with Nutrê's management policy, this investment will bring us a very positive return in of financial savings,” he highlighted.

Ceará leads GD ranking in the Northeast

The state of Ceará ranks first in the Northeast when it comes to distributed generation of photovoltaic solar energy, with 97.5 MW of installed capacity. The data is from the most recent report by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) and the ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association).

Ceará's economic and investment capacity when it comes to renewable energy is not only driven by its 573 km coastline and strong winds. The state has one of the highest radiation rates in Brazil. As a result, the use of solar energy is gradually increasing and, as a fuel, is driving development throughout the territory.

According to Adece (Ceará Development Agency), based on data from ANEEL, 9.224 generating units, with a generation capacity of 116 MW, are spread across 178 of the 184 municipalities in Ceará.
