Approximately 54,7 MW of average annual energy were negotiated in the energy auction to supply Isolated Systems to serve regions of Acre, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia and Roraima. The auction was held last Friday (30) by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) and CCEE (Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber).
The signed contracts, which total R$355,5 million in investments, provide for the supply of electricity starting April 1, 2023, extending up to 180 months, depending on each location. The auction was 100% virtual and followed the guidelines of MME Ordinance No. 341, of September 11, 2020. The most contracted source was diesel oil in lots I and V, totaling more than 33 MW of the required power.
The bidders, who participated in the auction, which lasted just under 1h30, were natural gas, diesel and renewable energy supply solutions. The total power required for this auction was 97,278 MW. Four of the eight participants won the auction by offering the lowest selling price for the energy. The average discount was 19,4%. The winners will have two years to deliver the five supply solutions they proposed to supply the locations to the 23 generating plants, offering load directly to the distributors that serve the end consumer.
“Through auctions like this, ANEEL improves the reliability of the electricity supply, a commodity that is so essential to the life and economy of the country. In addition, we make new investments possible, which will create jobs and generate income for the population”, said the director of ANEEL Elisa Bastos, rapporteur of the auction process.
Bernardo Marangon, a specialist in the electrical energy markets sector, explains that auctions in the northern region usually present a high value for energy, especially because Diesel is the predominant source. “I see the northern region as a good opportunity to apply the solar and storage solution together with a thermal source. It would certainly make the thermal project more competitive”, assesses the specialist.
