The municipalities of Brasília, Ceilândia and Itapoã, both in the Federal District (DF), will receive sessions from the Cine Solar project this week – the first traveling cinema in the country powered by photovoltaic solar energy.
With sponsorship from the company Meta, theSessions take place in Brasília this Tuesday (28), in Ceilândia on Wednesday (29) and in Itapoã on Thursday (30).
Brazilian short films and os movies: Pixinguinha; A Caring Man; O Auto da Compadecida and Cine Holliúdy, respectively, in addition to a special short film produced during two workshops with a socio-environmental theme by young students.
Nas sessions, that have free entry and popcorn distribution, the public can visit the mobile science, art, technology, sustainability and culture of peace station, installed in the vehicle that carries the entire cinema.
CineSolar operates through two vans, called Tupã and Mahura, which were painted with graffiti and adapted with the photovoltaic system. The technology features six 230 W solar s from Canadian Solar, as well as two charge controllers and a 12 V inverter from Xantrex.
The equipment also has six 240 Ah batteries, which store up to 20 kWh, that is, 20 hours of autonomy for the system (projector and amplifier), which has an average power of 1 kW.
Sessions across Brazil
Launched in 2013, CineSolar is a project that promotes art and sustainability, taking cinema to remote communities with access to culture. In total, more than a thousand sessions have already been held and with screenings of more than 200 films, including feature films and shorts, in more than 450 cities across the country.
Until December, another 94 presentations will take place in 40 municipalities in 12 Brazilian states. The project is made possible by Federal Culture Incentive Law and is sponsored by large entities, such as the FL Energia Group.
Office
In addition to cinema sessions, CineSolar also holds workshops that integrate art, technology and sustainability, and disseminate sustainable practices for everyday life, from waste separation to the reuse of recyclable materials. By the end of the year, 27 more workshops will be held across Brazil.
In Ceilândia and Itapoã, for example, the project uses audiovisual language and cooperative games, with children and young students from public schools. The meeting addresses themes of permaculture, agroecology, bioconstruction and the Earth Charter, in addition to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) proposed by the UN (United Nations).
“The workshops are complementary activities, with a very simple and didactic language that engages children and young people in the region in a playful way. The project helps the planet by fulfilling 10 of the 17 SDGs and putting the public even more in touch with the themes of sustainability and renewable energy, as well as art and culture”, explains Cynthia Alario, coordinator and creator of CineSolar.
