ABRACEEL (Brazilian Association of Energy Traders) calculated that consumers in the Free Energy Market – ACL (Free Contracting Environment) – saved R$55 billion in 2024. The segment, which is experiencing strong growth, recorded an average consumption of 28.386 MW last year, reaching an annual demand record.
Since 2003, Mercado Livre has generated savings of over R$476 billion for consumers, in updated values. Expanding access is also boosting this market: since January 2024, all consumers in Group A, regardless of their consumption volume, can migrate to the free environment.
Last year ended with 64 consumer units in the ACL, which represents only 0,07% of the total energy consumers in the country, indicating great potential for growth in the coming years. For 2025, 14.548 units have already informed their intention to migrate, according to a report by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) published on January 31.
“Every consumer who opts for Mercado Livre reduces their electricity bill and contributes to pushing inflation down. Furthermore, in this new phase of growth, new consumers are smaller and tend to reinvest the resources saved, boosting the economy and generating jobs,” highlights Rodrigo Ferreira, CEO of Mercado Livre.
