The search for more economical and practical solutions that are more sustainable for the consumption of electrical energy has led many companies to consider two of the many viable alternatives: the free energy market, responsible for facilitating negotiations between the distributor and the contractor according to consumption; and solar energy, a sustainable source of electrical energy generation through the Sun.

Both offer significant benefits, but the ideal choice depends on factors such as consumption profile, investment capacity and long-term strategic goals.

O free energy market has established itself as an excellent alternative for companies seeking predictability, flexibility and real savings on their electricity bills. Unlike the captive market, where rates are imposed by distributors, this modality allows consumers to negotiate directly with suppliers, ensuring more advantageous conditions.

In the free market model, companies can choose their energy suppliers, negotiate prices and contract energy from renewable sources, such as solar and wind. The main benefits include:

  • Cost reduction: more competitive rates thanks to direct negotiation with suppliers;
  • Predictability: long-term contracts provide greater control over expenses;
  • Sustainability: possibility of opting for clean energy sources, reducing the carbon footprint.

Since January 2024, all companies classified in Group A (medium and high voltage) can migrate to the free market, regardless of their consumption. This means that small and medium-sized companies can benefit from this modality, making their energy costs more efficient and predictable.

Solar energy: energy independence and sustainability

Photovoltaic solar energy is an alternative widely adopted by residential and business consumers who want to generate their own energy. The system uses solar s to convert sunlight into electricity, reducing dependence on energy providers during the period of the day when there is sunlight. Among the main benefits are:

  • Long-term savings: after the initial investment, operating costs are low;
  • Sustainability: 100% clean and renewable source, reducing carbon emissions;
  • Autonomy: less vulnerability to tariff increases and price fluctuations.

Solar energy can be a good option for smaller companies and Group B (low voltage) consumers who do not yet have access to the free energy market. However, there are factors to consider, such as the space available for installing the s and the time required for the return on investment.

Comparison: which one to choose?

Although both alternatives bring savings and sustainability, the ideal choice varies according to the consumer profile.

The free energy market offers strategic advantages for companies seeking to reduce costs without the need for a large initial investment.

Solar energy can be a good alternative for those who want to generate their own energy and do not depend on regulated tariffs.

Some companies have even adopted a hybrid solution, installing solar s in their establishments and purchasing the remaining demand through the free market.

To assess the best option for your company, it is essential to analyze energy consumption, long-term goals and investment capacity. With planning, it is possible to ensure greater energy efficiency and sustainability for your business.
