A GD (distributed generation) in solar energy in homes, businesses, industries, rural properties and public buildings has just reached the mark of 31 GW of installed power.
They amount is responsible for more than R$150 billion in accumulated investments, according to ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association).
The association points out that currently there are more than 3,9 million consumer units served by the source. Today in Brazil there are more than 2,8 million systems installed on roofs, facades and small plots of land.
This number of systems is spread across all Brazilian states and present in 5.500 municipalities.
Ronaldo Koloszuk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ABSOLAR, says that the The growth of own generation is a sign of the popularization of technology in the country.
Koloszuk also says that the drop of around 50% in average price end of solar s, according to analysts, contributes to increasing attractiveness and access of consumers with different profiles to benefit.
“So this is the best time to invest in solar systems in homes, businesses and rural properties. And there is still enormous potential for growth in the use of photovoltaic technology, as Brazil has around 92,4 million electricity consuming units in the captive market”, he comments.
Rodrigo Sauaia, CEO of the entity, points out that the growth of the source in its own generation increases the country's protagonism, strengthens sustainability, relieves family budgets and increases the competitiveness of Brazilian productive sectors.
“Solar generation close to consumption locations reduces the use of transmission infrastructure, relieves pressure on water resources, reduces electrical losses over long distances and contributes to greater autonomy and choice for consumers”, he emphasizes.
“Additionally, reduces pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to the protection of the environment”, he concludes.
The institution points out that since 2012, the segment is responsible for the creation of more than 900 thousand jobs green and collection of more than R$44 billion to public coffers.
