O Federal government This Thursday (30), it extended the duration of the Luz para Todos and Mais Luz para a Amazônia programs to 2026 and 2030, respectively. Both initiatives would be closed on December 31st of this year.
The programs were created with the aim of bringing electricity to populations living in remote communities in the country, through the use of clean energy generation systems, especially photovoltaic solar sources.
The extension of the term will therefore allow the use of resources from the Spanish Sporthorse (Energy Development ) to enable the expansion of electrical energy services for low-income families or beneficiaries of federal social development programs.
The programs also communities located in extractive reserves or directly impacted by electricity generation or transmission projects for which the concessionaire is not responsible.
Schools, health centers and community water wells also benefit, as well as families living in conservation units, indigenous communities and quilombola territories.
Within the scope of Light for All, the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) estimates the investment of more than R$ 2,6 billion in new investments. As for Mais Luz para a Amazônia, R$11,3 billion will be invested in electricity distribution works for remote regions of the Legal Amazon.
Currently, Brazil has around one million people without any access to electricity, of which 990 thousand are in the Legal Amazon, according to estimates from the iema (Institute of Energy and Environment).
